Outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, The Cottages, a 55+ Community, is Cozy and Leafy with Cottage-Style,
Single Story Homes
Developed by New Forum, the Village of Carolina Place is one of
Mecklenburg County's largest 55+ communities and has a total of 455 housing units.
The development consists of three sections: two luxury apartment complexes
(The Manor and The Dorchester) and a single family homes section known as The Cottages.
Built by Charlotte's Concorde Construction, The Cottages only has 96 homes. It is cozy, compact, leafy and
offers active adults the benefits of home ownership without the hassles of home maintenance.
The cottages were mostly built between 2004 and 2009, but a few home sites remain. Monthly HOA fees cover exterior home maintenance, lawn care, landscaping, and irrigation. Prices start at the mid-$100,000s and reach into the mid-$200,000s. Please verify these prices with a Realtor as they many change over time. Homes are occassionally for lease, too.
The Cottages is gated and has a clubhouse, a pool, a putting green, a greenway, and community garden plots. The clubhouse boasts a library, a fitness room, and multipurpose room. It is the hub of social activity where dances, exercise classes, bingo, bridge, and book club meetings take place. Cottage residents can also easily walk to The Dorchester or The Manor to visit the on-site beauty shop, art studio or billiards room. The Village's activities director plans a full calendar of excursions, seminars, games, wine socials, movies, and classes.
Residents have easy access to three major highways (485, 77, 85). The Cottages is also minutes away from uptown Charlotte and 13,500-acre Lake Wylie.
Pineville is in the Waxhaws district between Charlotte, North Carolina and Rock Hill, South Carolina. It has recently seen a retail boom and is now the home of the 1,200,000 square foot Carolina Place Shopping Mall. The town is also the birthplace of James Polk, America's 11th president, and it has a browsable historic district with shops and restaurants. Pineville's parks and recreation department sponsors a Silver Sneakers program, a summer music and film series as well as a Fall Festival and community yard sale.
There is no hospital within Pineville boundaries, but Carolinas Medical Center is about ten miles away in Charlotte and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
Although the area is known for its humid summers, temperatures are moderate. The summer's high rarely reaches 90 degrees. Winter lows rarely dip below 30. Although average rainfall is 46 inches per year, snowfall happens only occasionally.
