Established 55+ Community of Victorian Estates in Central Arizona Has a Victorian Theme, Charming Single Family Homes and Beautiful Mountain Views
Just east of Prescott in central Arizona's Bradshaw Mountains, Prescott Valley sits at 5,100 feet above sea level. It is a growing small city with a mature demographic. Part of this mature demographic lives in Victorian Estates, a cozy, established 55+ community with 178 charming, single family homes.
Built from the mid-1990s to the early-2000s, Victorian Estates is unique in that it has a Victorian theme. This means that home exteriors have decorative trim, bay windows, a front porch and an occasional turret. Interiors, however, are modern, with open floor plans. The seven models have from 1,020 square feet with two bedrooms and two baths to 1,935 square feet with three bedrooms and two baths. Nearly all residences are single story and all have an attached two car garage that faces the street. Some properties have a back deck overlooking Rose Creek. Homes sit close to one another, and sidewalks are narrow. Landscaping consists of trees, bushes, rocks and native ground cover. The gated entrance sits along a busy street, but the community backs to bluffs covered in pine trees and scrub brush.
Prices start in the low-$400,000s. The HOA fee is $100 per month. Please verify prices with a Realtor as they may change.
The clubhouse, once a ranch house, is the heart and soul of Victorian Estates. It has a long, covered front porch, vaulted wood ceilings, a fireplace, a fitness area and a Jacuzzi. Outside, a heated swimming pool awaits. A gazebo graces the community park, and mountain views are all around.
Victorian Estates' theme is in keeping the area's history. In its early days, next door neighbor Prescott brimmed with elegant architecture, including Greek Revival, Octagon and Queen Anne building styles, as newly minted millionaire miners built new homes. Today, more than 800 of Prescott's commercial buildings and residences are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Yavapai Regional Medical Center - East Campus in Prescott Valley is accredited by the Joint Commission. Prescott has a VA hospital.
Summer temperatures reach into the low-90s, and winters are mild with temperatures in the 40s and 50s. Nights can get chilly, with temperatures dipping into the 20s. On average, the area receives 19 inches of rain and 24 inches of snow each year.

Arizona:
On February 14, 1912, Arizona became the 48th state to join the Union. In the southwestern region of the United States, it borders New Mexico to the east, Utah to the north, Nevada and California to the west and Mexico to the south. The Cactus Wren is the state's bird, and the Saguaro Blossom is the state flower. The capital and largest city is Phoenix.
Arizona is home to the Grand Canyon, one of the nation's oldest national parks, and to the Hoover Dam. The state covers 113,000 square miles, making it the nation's 6th largest state. However, only a small portion of the land, about 15%, is privately owned. The rest of Arizona belongs to national parks, state parks and Native American reservations.
Interestingly, the majority of Arizonans - everyone except those in the Navajo Nation - do not observe Daylight Savings Time.

Why Choose a 55+ Community?
Most people who choose to live in a 55+ development are looking for a sense of community with other people of similar backgrounds. Many of these developments are gated and guarded, adding to a sense of security. Often the homes are low maintenance or "lock and leave," giving owners the freedom to do things other than mow the lawn, shovel the snow or replace the roof. The biggest draw is often the amenities, ranging from lavish clubhouses to activity directors and championship golf courses, making some developments akin to country club living (or summer camp for adults). While 55+ communities are not for everyone, they continue to be a popular choice for many people.
