Spacious 50+ Community of Cedar Springs Meadows Sits in Rugged Western Wyoming and Has Single Family Homes, Town Homes and Mountain Views
Pretty Star Valley is a high altitude valley in extreme west central Wyoming. The town of Thayne rests in the center of the valley and is the location of Cedar Springs Meadows, a 50+ community with single family homes and town homes. Surrounded by national forests and rugged mountain scenery, Cedar Springs Meadows was built by Lewis Construction and stretches across more than 30 wide open acres.
Floor plans start at around 1,340 square feet, and models are named after Wyoming natural landmarks (the Teton, the Yellowstone, etc.). Each dwelling's hardwood floors and high, knotty pine ceilings evoke the interior of a ranch house. Focused on a single-level lifestyle, most units have a heated garage, a covered front porch and back patio, large walk-in closets, a walk-in pantry, comfort-height commodes, a gourmet kitchen, R44 ceiling insulation and R21 exterior wall insulation. Exteriors are stone and timber with a small front porch and a pitched roof.
Home prices start in the mid- to high-$200,000s. Lots start at $20,000. Please verify this with a Realtor as prices may change. The HOA fee, which is discounted for people age 65 or better, covers exterior maintenance, water from a private well, trash service, and snow removal.
The community has a private entrance, paved roads, walking paths and stocked trout ponds. At build-out, Cedar Springs Meadows should have a clubhouse with a full kitchen, a gathering room, and exercise facilities. Other planned features include pull-through RV spaces, storage units, and an assisted living center.
Nearby Thayne is part of Wyoming's newest scenic byway. The town manages two parks and a rodeo arena. Its community center has a gym and meeting space. Thayne's Star Valley Arts Council sponsors classes, concerts, and traveling theater troupes. The Council's Ice Block Film Festival is in its 10th year. Stunning Jackson Hole is 45 minutes to the north. The Caribou-Targhee National Forest as well as the Grand Tetons offer year round recreation. Summer fishing beckons at the nearby Palisades Reservoir.
Star Valley Medical Center has 22 beds but is not accredited. The nearest accredited hospital is Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho, about 65 miles away.
This area receives, on average, receives 24 inches of rain and nearly 160 inches of snow each year. Summer temperatures are in the 70s and 80s. Winter temperatures are in the single digits and teens.

Wyoming
Wyoming's territorial legislature granted women the right to vote in 1869. It was the first government entity in the world to recognize "female sufferage." The Equality State entered the Union about 21 years later on July 10, 1890.
The 10th largest state by area, Wyoming is one of the country's smallest by population. The mean elevation is 6,700 feet above above sea level. The state can be divided by three distinct land areas. The Great Plains to the east are characterized by short grass, cottonwoods, and shrubs. Devils Tower National Monument rises out of this prairie. Ranges within Wyomings include the Big Horns and the Tetons. Ranges are separated by high plateaus known as the Intermontane Basins.
Depending on elevation, Wyoming can have cold winters and warm summers. Rain is rare. Snowfall in some mountain areas piles up to 200 inches or more per year. The southeastern portion of the state sees late spring thunderstorms and early summer tornados.
Tourism, energy, and agriculture contribute to the state's coffers. More than six million people visit Wyoming's national parks and monuments per year. Half of those visitors come to see stunning Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park.
An important part of Wyoming's cowboy culture, farms and ranches are leading producers of beef, hay, sugar beets, and wool. A major source of coal, coalbed methane, and crude oil, the state also has rich reserves of trona and natural gas.
Nellie Tayloe Ross became the country's first female governor in 1925. No other woman has served as Wyoming governor since.
